Not only does this drastically reduce the chance of your watch being damaged during a battery change, but it also means the lubricants in your watch movement are less likely to dry out as they are inside Grand Seiko's \"Super Sealed Cabin\". A quartz second hand jerks forward so suddenly and violently that its momentum carries forward even after the second hand reaches its destination, resulting in a little wobble.
